Boomerangs e-shop

My role:  ux designer, art director, graphic designer

Coworkers: Ian Repik (illustrator), Katerina Suchankova (copywriter), Tomas Macuga (programmer)

Boomerangs e-shop was the first large project of my own. I managed to find a suitable illustrator, copywriter and developer and coordinated their work throughout project. There was no fixed time schedule and no pressure from the client affecting this project. That allowed me to enjoy the project very much, think of every detail and immerse myself in the work. The only downside of non-existent time schedule was the overall lenght of the project that took 5 years to complete.

Although time-consuming, the challenge of creating my first entire new brand from the scratch was approprietly rewarding. Starting with the core idea and a few sketches I created a basic concept and a visual key based on a hunting theme. This concept was then refined in cooperation with the illustrator. High contrast ink hunter illustrations were used to promote boomerang use as well as to engage customers attention. Illustrations where then successively used on support and promotional materials like ID cards, simple brochure “How to throw a boomerang” etc.

Apart from the website and printed material development, photographic sessions and video shooting were my responsibility as well. Through this project I gained valuable experience and a completely new perspective on branding and management. This experience proved particularly usefull in my later works.

Czech Designers And Webdesigners (CDAW) js a facebook page that I created in 2010 in order to support czech design community. Years later I still manage the page and thus follow actual events and czech design scene development. Apart from maintaining an extensive image database of the czech (web)designers' and design studios' works I also actively search for talented designers and interview them utilizing public facebook comments system. Especially these interviews gained positive reactions in the past as they brought interesting discussion topics as well as helped designers to get to know each other either on professional or private and friendly levels.
